2 young women plead guilty to helping man use sword to kill teen who hooked up with ex-girlfriend

While the main suspect goes to trial, two young women admitted they helped him kill a teen over a love dispute and were sentenced on Thursday. WTVJ, an NBC affiliate in Miami, says that Christie Parisien, 20, and Jaslyn Smith, 19, will spend 25 years in jail.

Broward County, Florida, police said that Parisien, who was 17 at the time, called the victim, Dwight “DJ” Grant, 18, and brought him to a stairwell in their apartment complex. Then Smith and the main suspect, 17-year-old Andre Clements, attacked him from behind, killing him after 31 minutes, according to the police.

It is said that Clements said, “You know I have to kill you now,” pulled out a sword, and stabbed Grant in the neck.

Police say Grant told him to stop. He says that Clements stabbed him in the chest with the sword. Police say the three teens took the body and threw it over a fence 30 feet from the victim’s apartment.

In 2021, a neighbor told Fox Miami station WSVN, “It’s creepy, and he was such a good kid.” “His mom loved him.” That just doesn’t seem like something that could happen. It’s very scary.

Authorities said that Grant’s murder was caused by having sex with Clements’ ex-girlfriend. As a result, Clements, who is now 20, asked Parisien to help, and the two of them then asked Smith to join them.

The young women pleaded guilty to murder plot and tampering with evidence. They also pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, which is less serious than killing someone in the first degree.

In court, Grant’s mother, Madge Emile, told the judge, “I’ll never have a grandchild.” “That day and how my son is all I could think about.” I’ll never get to see him grow up. “Good night, Mom” was something he always said when we were getting ready for bed. “Good night, see you in the morning, I love you,” I’d say. My son will never tell me he loves me.

The trial for Clements on charges of first-degree murder, messing with physical evidence, and planning to commit first-degree murder will start on January 13.
