The person who threw the dog down a trash hole is being sought by police in Manhattan.
Someone who lives in the Governor Alfred Smith Houses on the Lower East Side heard the dog on Friday.
The dog was taken away by maintenance workers, and police gave it to the ASPCA.
Workers at the ASPCA say the dog was hurt so badly that she had to be put down.
